Six weeks down, six to go

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
Confucius

It is hard to believe I am in my sixth week as a brewing intern at Deschutes Brewery. Six weeks down, six to go. This week I finish up on day shift 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Next week I begin swing shift 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Video of my first six weeks:

Here are a few lessons I have learned thus far as a brewing intern:

1. If a tank does not pressurize, look for missing pieces or crank the door tighter. Ugh!

2. Remember the racking arm.

3. Carhartts are cool!

4. Getting a boot in the brewing door is tough. Never give up.

So six weeks down, six to go and then what? Great question! I don't have the answer quite yet. I am still waiting for the day I find out my why.
